This time, however, the robots will need to have an extra-light touch.  The students are tasked with designing, building and operating a robot intended to safely lift and transport three water balloons through an obstacle course in a timed competition.

“Our annual robot challenge requires our students to work together in teams to solve engineering problems,” LSC Machining instructor Mike Koppy explained.  “The students work hard to meet the assignment’s requirements and outperform their classmates.  The results are always fun to watch.”

The robot demonstration and competition will take place at noon on Tuesday, December 16, in the LSC Commons.  Seven teams made up of students enrolled in machining, welding and engineering CAD technology are developing robots for the competition.

The event is free and open to the public.
