A Great Start for Fall Semester

Full parking lots, crowded hallways and lines at the bookstore – these are sure signs of the beginning of the academic year.

As classes began on Monday, August 25, enrollment at Lake Superior College reached a new all-time high. Opening day headcount is at 4,121 and full-time equivalents (FTE) at 2,950, up 2.9 and 4 percent respectively over last year’s numbers. Prior to this year, LSC’s largest opening day enrollment was in 2004, when they reached 2,876.08 FTE.

Enrollment is expected to climb as registration for late start classes and continuing education continues. An official enrollment report will be released following the 30th day of the semester.

Dave Anderson of Northland NewsCenter filed a report about opening day activities at LSC. View it at www.northlandsnewscenter.com/news/local/27374864.html.
