Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation Announces Scholarship Winners
The Board of Directors of the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation has announced the recipients of the first scholarship awards of the Lloyd K. Johnson Post-secondary School Scholarship.
Jackie Carbert, Mary Edson, Casey Kimball and Lea Leonard are this year’s winners. All of the students are 2008 graduates of Cook County High School and residents of Grand Marais, Minnesota.
The Lloyd K. Johnson Post-secondary School Scholarship pays for all tuition, fees and books for one academic year at Lake Superior College. Its purpose is to assist graduating seniors at Cook County High School to continue their education in order to develop the skills and experience necessary to complete their vocational and educational goals. The scholarship will be awarded to up to four students annually by the Foundation.
The scholarship is awarded in honor of the Foundation’s founder, Lloyd K. Johnson, who passed away in 2006 at age 97. Mr. Johnson was born in Grand Marais and graduated from Cook County High School in 1925.
