Come to the Lake Superior Writers’ Series Final Event! An open reading on Tuesday, May 1, at 7 p.m. with a receptionin the Minnesota Room, LSC Library. Student Art Exhibit at Lake Superior College May 2-8

Lake Superior College’s thirteenth annual Spring Semester Art Exhibit will open on Wed., May 2 with a reception between 5 and 7 p.m. The show will run through Tuesday, May 8. Students enrolled in LSC’s popular art courses will have paintin.jpgan opportunity to display their work during the event. For many of the approximately 350 participating students, it will be their first-ever exhibition.

Spring Choir Concert May 3

“Dances and Dreams,”? the first-ever spring concert by the seventeen-member LSC Choir will be held Thursday, May 3, at 7:00 p.m. in the Atrium. Directed by Carolyn Rynex, the event is free and open to the public.

Guest artists include Shelly Gruskin and Johanna Gruskin on recorder, violinist Dale Rogers, the LSC String Ensemble, and guitarist John Farrell. The programsingers.jpg will feature works by Schubert, Renaissance composer Giovanni Nanino, and a number of contemporary composers whose lyrics incorporate the work of poets Langston Hughes, Walt Whitman, and Emily Dickinson.

Car Show/Open House May 5

The Lake Superior College Auto Club is sponsoring its First Annual “Car Show/Open House”? from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2007. Activities include a car corral, swap meet, tool and parts vendor booths, door prizes, a silent auction for parts cars and used equipment, and a “sledge hammer”? car. The event is free and open to the public. Swap meet and car corral spots are $10 each. To reserve a spot or for more information, contact sabolsta@sudent.lsc.edu.

“Thrill on the Hill”? Fund Run May 5

LSC will host its first annual “Thrill on the Hill”? Scholarship Fund Run on Saturday, May 5. The 10K walk/run is designed for runners and walkers who love to get out and explore Duluth. The race course incorporates the LSC Campus, Trinity and Hutchinson Roads and the Duluth Piedmont Ski Trails. The scenic and challenging course will take place on half pavement and half trails. All race proceeds will benefit the LSC Foundation’s general scholarship fund. The event’s presenting sponsor is the Duluth News Tribune.
