Joan Thoren has been hired as an administrative assistant for the Lake Superior College Foundation and to support general college grant-writing activities. Thoren previously served as an assistant in the Crow Wing County Planning and Zoning Department where she worked on land use enforcement issues. Prior to that job, Thoren taught for 15 years at a math, science and technology magnet elementary school in Morris, Minnesota. She and her husband, Allan, are originally from Ely, Minnesota.
