LSC Expands Music Offerings; Hires Rynex
Lake Superior College will expand its music classes with several new courses. A new music ensemble, the College Choir, will provide students and community members the opportunity to sing and earn college credit. The choir will rehearse Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 4:50 p.m., beginning August 29. There will be at least one public performance of the group at Lake Superior College.
Carolyn Rynex has been hired by LSC to conduct the choir, teach general music courses, and provide private vocal lessons. Rynex is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth’s (UMD) master’s program in vocal performance, where she studied with Rachel Inselman. Originally from Illinois, Rynex has more than twenty years of experience teaching voice, piano, and choir to all ages. She is also the music director at St. Andrew’s by the Lake, Duluth, and an adjunct instructor of voice at UMD and at the Fond du Lac Community and Tribal College, Cloquet. Rynex is an active part of the Twin Ports music community, having performed as a soloist with the Arrowhead Chorale and the recent joint University of Minnesota production of La Boheme.
