#7 Requiem For A Dream
Requiem for a Dream is a hypnotic tale of four human beings each pursuing their vision of happiness. Even as everything begins to fall apart, they refuse to let go, plummeting with their dreams into a nightmare. This movie shows three out of four main characters pursing happiness to make it big by dealing drugs, while they are addicted to drugs themselves. That character uses drugs to accomplish their goal and she to slips into an endless nightmare. Every College Student should watch this movie because it shows the long term effects of drug use.
The main characters in the movie are a widowed mother, her son Harry, his girlfriend Marion, and Harry’s best friend Tyrone. Harry, Marion, and Tyrone in the movie try to make it big in the movie by dealing drugs . They end up using the drugs on them selves and they start falling into an endless nightmare.
All college students should watch this movie because it shows what drugs are and what they can do to people. Drug problems threw out every school has been getting worse. Student are doing Meth, Crack, and other illegal drugs. Even with all the programs out there, there are still a number of students doing the drugs. In this movie, it shows the long term effects and problems that drugs can do to the human body. This movie shows the characters becoming so addicted to drugs that they will do anything to get them. The old widow mother in the movie becomes addicted to weight loss pills. She thought she was going to be on TV. She wonted to lose weight so she could fit into her old red dress again. That was her pursuit of happiness and she began to overdose on the pills. The overdosing made her to begin hallucinating. At the end, her whole life fell apart.
Some people may argue that the movie is to graphical to watch. The movie is unrated because it contains drug use and very explicit sexual material also violence. But we all are in college here, and I believe all of use is in a mature state of mind. I believe that even the movie is extremely graphical to watch. Even with the extreme graphics in it, the movie is high educational to watch. It shows multiple in depth education by showing the terrifying addictions people get over drugs. It’s a dream of making it big but ends up turning into a horrifying nightmare.
I recommend every college student should watch this movie. It shows a story about people pursuing happiness in the wrong way by dealing drugs. It shows their life falling apart because of their addiction. Students need to learn the long term effects and problems that drugs can do to the person. By watching this movie, students can visually see what the different effects are from drugs and what they do to people.
