Today I ran 7 miles. It took me 56:11 min.
My route was rolling hills. I did the scheduled 6X4:00 at 85% with 3:00 rest in between. I used my heart rate today. I was able to maintain my 85% for the 4:00 intervals around 168, my recovery was in the low 150’s.
Today it seemed like I struggled a little. Although I was able to keep my pace, it felt harder than usual. I was over dressed and became quite hot. I should have worn my shorts but couldn’t deciede so I went with pants. I will ware my shorts tomorrow for sure.

Maybe try relaxing on the strides a bit–maybe you are doing them too hard. They should make your legs feel crisp–not fatigued, the next day. That 5×5 mins is a tough workout as you only get half the recovery of the interval. These types of workouts get you ready for to hold a strong pace for the half. You are teaching your body to run in that 85% zone and buffer the lactate you are producing. The idea is you can rid your muscles of lactate as it is being produced and in theory feel as good in the last miles of the race as you feel in the early miles.
