Today I ran 8.5 miles.  I didn’t time my run but I figured it took me about 75 min.

My pace was easy, but I felt really good on the last two miles that I picked it up a little.  I am working on getting my heart rate monitor.  It is in getting a new battery.   I got it for Christmas one year and as I was trying to program it the battery went dead so I threw it in the back of my closet where it has sat for the last two years.  I now have a great opportunity to learn how to use it, so I pulled it out and dusted it off.  I brought it in to get a new battery so here I wait.   I have never used HR and am excited to try it out.

My route was a mix of flat, up and down hill.  I did do a mile of off road on a trail that runs next to the railroad tracks.  I got wet and muddy and loved it.  I really felt good on this run.  I think the extra rest the last couple day’s helped.

I have also stripped layers in my running clothes and that feels great.  What a great day for a run, except for the wind, yikes!!

I took today off.

My schedule did not permit me to get my run in today.  I am however feeling much better and hope my long run on Sun will get me back into things.

Friday March 28th

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Today I ran 5 miles.  It took me around 45 min.

I ran the entire 5 miles easy.  I’m still not feeling 100% but I don’t want to loose fitness.  It went pretty good.

My route was mostly flat with little inclines and declines.

Once again I went to bed early and slept in.  The extra sleep helps.

Today I took off.

Not feeling the best today.  My kids have had a stomach bug and I think I am feeling it today.  I went to bed early and slept for like 10 hours which is alot for me.

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Today I ran 5 miles.  It took me about 42min.

I did the first 2 miles at a moderate pace.  On my 3rd mile I started my 6 strides with one minute rest between each one.  The last mile I ran easy.

My route was mostly flat with some small inclines and declines.

The stride outs where hard, I felt pretty good when I was done, but tired.  Besides the cold wind, it was a perfect day for a run.

Tues. March 25th

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Today I ran 4 miles.  It took me about 37 min.

My first mile was a warm-up.  My next 2 miles I picked up the pace and tried to hold it at race pace.  It was hard when going up inclines.  My last mile I slowed it down a little.  I walked 4 blocks for cool down.

My route was mostly flat for the first 3 miles.  The last mile was slightly downhill.

I felt ok, not my best feeling run, but I’m glad I got out there and pushed.  I overdressed and was too warm.  It was a great day for a run except that darn wind.  Burr!!

Running History

Monday, March 24th, 2008

I’ve been looking at some of your blog’s and like how a running history is given, so I am adding mine!  I live in Two Harbors, MN.  I am 33 years old.  I have two kids Fletcher is 10 and my daughter Quinn is 6.   I have been running since I was 18, that summer I did a mini triathalon.  When I was in college a bunch of my friends and I diceided we wanted to try running a marathon, so I ran my first Grandma’s marathon when I was 21.  I did two more my best time being 4:24.  After I had my daughter I tried the half marathon and deceided that was more for me.  I have run 10 including the Garry Bjorklund as well as the Whistlestop and the Walt Disney.  This will be my 11th half marathon.  I seem to be stuck in a rut.  My times are not improving and with this class I’m looking to learn how to train better so that I can improve!!!  Good luck to everyone!  New runners, keep with it, once you run a race like grandma’s you’ll be addicted!!

Sun. March 23 Easter

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Today I ran 8 miles.  It took me 72 min.

My route was a mix of rolling hills as well as some flater areas.

I ran easy.  I felt really good my last 2 miles so I picked up the pace slightly.

This is a scheduled run which I completed.

It was kinda chilly out.  Cold wind.  It was lightly snowing.  A very peaceful Easter run
