Literary Analysis
The English department offers a wide variety of literature courses each year, allowing students to study the novel, science fiction, Native-American literature, multi-cultural literature, American and English literature, the short story, poetry, and a host of other genres and time periods. All literature classes help students develop critical thinking skills and learn to:
- Demonstrate awareness of the scope and variety of works in the arts and humanities.
- Understand those works as expressions of individual and human values within an historical and social context.
- Respond critically to works in the arts and humanities.
- Engage in the creative process or interpretive performance.
- Articulate an informed personal reaction to works in the arts and humanities.
