Good Signs

You should follow directions.

Drink Belikin Beer sign

So, I did.

Seriously, I did.

This sign greeted people as they walked into the auditorium at Elgin CC for my keynote address there in March 2009. Of course I asked everyone to turn their cellular devices ON, especially since we used them as part of the session by demonstrating Poll Everywhere as part of my Teaching with Technology, Myths and Realities presentation.

The sign in front of the Chuckbox in Tempe, AZ looks just like it did when I was a student there many moons ago. Order a Real Big One with cheese for the full experience.Chuckbox Tempe

This is easy to do in Memphis. BBQ and catfish, what a smooth combination! Lots of neon on Beale Street.

Crabby Bills Sign

I love Florida. I feel like I belong here.

(Not really where I belong – been there, done that, got the T)

Key West sign in Duluth, MN

This shot was taken near the Miller HillĀ  Mall in Duluth on Feb. 11, 2008. Local temperature was 17 below zero. Forecast in Key West today is for a high temp of 76 degrees, a mere 93 degree differential. To make matters worse, their low temp is expected to be 71 degrees.

I keep hearing Jimmy Buffet singing “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes” in the back of my mind. I wonder why that is.

They’ve been there for over 25 years. Concepcion Picciotto and William Thomas continue to ask the world to give peace a chance. They choose to live across the street from the White House in an effort to convince their neighbors to prefer peace over war. I wonder how it feels to be basically ignored for 25 years.

At the Korean War Memorial in Washington D.C. you’ll see these signs at the fountain asking people to not throw coins into the water.

Coins will stain the fountain

The photo below was taken in the same spot where I had the pleasure to watch one of the visiting high schoolers toss coins into the fountain.

I wish I had bought one of these.
