Well i didn’t write last week because i was busy with moving back home and everything. So now i am back in Chisholm living with my parents during the summer time. I still had time to get my running in though. I have been feeling really good now. My ankle has healed and dosn’t hurt when i run anymore thank god. I finally got in my long run on Sunday. I ran 8 miles and i felt really good but my knee was starting to hurt real bad. I had surgery on my left knee in tenth grade and i think the same thing is going wrong with the right one because it pops and grindes. But i have braces for them and that will hold me through the marathon. I am going to try and ice it more as we get closer to grandmas weekend. I am really bummed that i wont be able to make it to that “dress rehersal” for grandmas. I have my sisters grad party that day and we have a lot of family coming up. But the last couple of weeks i have been following the schedule and been running up to 3 to 4 miles a day. I probably should follow it a little more though. I started taking whey protien and i think it might be helping a little. i am not getting as sore the following day. Thats what it is suppose to help with right? But the marathon is almost here and i am getting pretty excited!

Hi,
I’m so glad the ankle is better, but take care of your knee. Every day stay on it–did you get PT exercises to do when you had your knee operated on? Do them–ice it–stay on soft surfaces for running. Do you have dirt roads around your house you can train on? This will give your joints a break. I think you are ready Sam. The marathon is always a huge undertaking physically and mentally–training for one and staying injury free is more than half the battle. Now that you are home, try to get lots of rest. Do you tak a calcium supplement? You should start if you don’t. I take the little chocolate calcium chews you can get at any drug store.
