Classification Essay

Everyone remembers the good old high school days right? There was never a day that went by that was not filled with some type of drama. Students yelling at each other for things that will be forgotten in a few days. High school was more than just drama, it was filled of good memories with all my friends. I’ll never forget how everyone was divided into their own little groups and how they all sit at their own tables at lunchtime. Having these little groups created not only unnecessary tension, but could be considered very hurtful depending on which group you were classified too.

The first group and probably the most recognized is of course the jocks. The jocks are the ones that play in the sports and run for prom king and queen. They are the star quarterback on the football team, or the point guard on the basketball team. They are very popular and have a lot of friends. They are the ideal student and most students would do just about anything to be like them or be friends with them.

The nerds are another type of student. They were the one’s that would play dungeon and dragons or other fantasy card games at lunchtime. They are in the chess club, math league, or in the band. They are considered to be the losers of the school and are very unpopular. They are constantly getting harassed and put down by more popular students for reasons unknown. They are basically the total opposite of the jocks.

The country kids are the last type of students. They have many nicknames, such as hicks and hillbillies. When it comes around to winter time, they all park their trucks in the shop parking lot on top of snow banks. They are known for doing crazy things in the parking lot after school involving their trucks. They take as many shop classes as they can while in high school. Getting in trouble, or even suspended, for chewing on school grounds does not even matter to them. Eventually the teachers started to not even care if they were chewing in class, because they were chewing almost daily. The teachers were shop teachers of course.

High school brought a lot of good memories and also a lot of unnecessary drama. There were three ways you could divide the student into groups. The first group was the jocks. They were very popular and lead the sports teams. They had many friends from all the groups. Then of course we have the unpopular nerds that play fantasy card games at lunch. They are picked on for being unpopular and being themselves. Last but not least we have the country kids. They are well known for their crazy stunts in the parking lot with their trucks. They are the kings of the shop classes and chew on school grounds. These groups make people judge one another and furthermore put people on different levels. Lets just hope that someday there will be no need to classify students into these groups and people will all be seen at the same level by everyone.
