After this semester ends…..

22 02 2007

After the spring semester ends, I am thinking of getting a job to pay off my student loan. I really need a job so I can enjoy myself because right now I have like $20 to my name… It’s pretty bad. This summer not only do I want to get a job but I also want to go on a vacation or something. Its been a long year and I think I deserve to have some fun for once. Not sure if I want to fly or just do a road trip. Since I’m not going anywhere for Spring Break I thought it would be nice to get away from Superior for a while.

The Ugly Truth

11 02 2007

The Ugly Truth about Beauty by Dave Barry is a short essay showing comparison and contrast between men’s and women’s beauty routines. Dave writes humorous columns for Miami Herald, so the essay had some pretty funny points. The essay is basically saying that women look at their own looks diffrently than men, and that women do so much to make themselves look like super models.

I totally agree with what Dave is trying to say in this essay. I feel that men say that they look average and thats that, on the other hand women will never be happy with themselves. I also agree that men don’t even notice 97 percent of the beauty efforts women make. I’m sure that small three percent is either a new hair style or some type of surgery.

Student Wants to ‘Rent’ a Girlfriend

1 02 2007

BEIJING (AP) - A desperate Chinese university student wants to “rent” a girlfriend for 10 days so he can show her off to his parents over the Lunar New Year holiday, state media reported Wednesday.

The physics student, who gave his name as Zhu Lijie, posted a notice on a bulletin board at Peking University offering 1,000 yuan ($130) to a woman who would pose as his girlfriend for the trip home for the holiday, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The advertisement said the woman should be “an honest, kind and similar-aged girl with a diploma.”

The Lunar New Year holiday, which starts Feb. 18 this year, is the most important family holiday in China.

Xinhua said Zhu had told his parents, who were pressuring him to get a girlfriend, that he had been studying too hard and had no time to meet a potential partner.

Peking University officials and the police have warned women to be wary of such advertisements.

Wang Jisheng, a professor with the Psychology Institution of the Chinese Academy Sciences, was quoted as saying Zhu was trying to show filial piety to his parents but was only cheating them.
