Online Course Peer Review

Peer Review Rubric

Rubric (PDF version)

Rubric (Word version)

This is the rubric Lake Superior College faculty use to conduct all online class peer reviews. Note that we adapted our rubric with permission from the MarylandOnline Quality Matters program while they were working under a FIPSE grant.

 Rubric Annotations (PDF version)

Rubric Annotations (Word version)

The annotated version of the rubric is handy when looking at the specific definitions of each standard and includes examples of ways to meet each standard. A copy of the annotated rubric can be given to an instructor before a review is conducted and during the follow-up meeting when going over the results of a review with an instructor. The annotated rubric also helps to ensure that all reviewers are correctly interpreting the meaning of each standard.

Rubric Scoring Guide

This document describes how to score a review using the rubric.

**The review rubric and annotations are adapted from the Quality Matters project that was awarded to MarylandOnline and sponsored in part by The Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE), U.S. Department of Education.

I tried to view the peer review rubric, annotated peer review rubric, and rubric scoring guide. Would it be possible to receive a copy of these items?

Request to use the Peer Review Rubric

I would like to request permission to use the peer review rubric posed on this site. At Cal Poly Pomona, we are in the process of developing an instrument similar to the one here and would like to avoid reinventing the wheel. In the even that you grant us permission to use this instrument, we will be sure to provide proper attribution to your institution in the version we come up with.

Request to use the Peer Review Rubric and Annotatations.

I would like permission to use both of the above documents. At Rochester College we are beginning to plan and develop an online program and feel this peer reviewed/designed information would be extremely helpful as we define our standard operating procedures and online course design.

Proper credit for original works will be noted on our final version.

Thanks,
