Where are you?
Summer courses are a great opportunity for students to catch up or get ahead. Summer can also mean crazy run-around schedules for parents of school-age kids. It’s particularly important during times like this, that onlineinstructors with unpredictable schedules let their students know how soon they’ll post grades, answer emails and pages, etc.
Peer review rubric standard V.3 reads: Clear standards are set for instructor response and availability (turnaround time for email, grades posted, etc.).
Summer courses are jam-packed with activity, covering 16 weeks of information in just 8. Students, however, will have the same number of questions! In order to decrease frustration, be sure to let your students know if/when you’ll be unreachable and when they can expect answers to their questions–preferrably in an obvious place within the course, such as the news area of the homepage.
