At LSC, we've had good luck with asking for faculty volunteers to serve as peer reviewers. Part of my role as the coordinator of peer review is to do the training. Training involves introducing the volunteers to all peer review documents and taking them through an actual review of a course (one of mine). The process takes about an hour total. At that point the volunteer is assigned to a review team and learns a lot more "on the job" with two other reviewers, one of whom is a team leader. I should mention that an additional requirement is the reviewer must have had one of his/her own courses reviewed before serving on a review team.

Thanks for the post! Let me know if you would like more detail. Does anyone else do anything differently?

I think this is a great idea. We're trying to get our own peer review circle started here at RCTC. There are a few of us brave souls here who are doing it.
