Struggling

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

I think this was a pretty interesting story to read.  It brings a lot of light towards the subject of women and how they are seen and treated.  I think it is true that a lot of time women are seen as sex objects.  I don’t think this is right.  Lots of men often times will pay more attention to what a women is wearing rather than what she is about.  I agree a lot with what the author is saying in this story.  These are problems that are leading women to believe that they need to look “sexy” all the time.  Honestly this kind of mentality leads to lots of health problems down the road.

Just Walk on By

I thought this story was a real eye opener for most people.  It does show that we do judge people by their looks.  It also really talked about how much fear some people live in because they are being attacked, beaten or even arrested because of the way they look.  In the story The African American journalist is arrested because he was just sitting in his car and the police thought he looked like the man they were really looking for.  Life is tough for a lot of people and when you are constantly being judged cause of your looks it does not get any easier.

The Truth about M&M’s

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Well I think this was a pretty descent essay written.  It is a good example of what we are going to write about in our essays so that is kind of nice.  This whole essay was about classification.  Steve classified three types of students.  He was able to compare them to different kinds of M&M’s.  This was easy for Steve because of his two year experience teaching Comp at Lake Superior College.  Over all Steve’s stand point is that he was worried about the students who would give up on school and also the students who got A grades, but after it was all over they would just forget about what they had just learned.  Good essay Steve and it is a good example to help the class out in starting our own essays.

Spring Break

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

I actually left Duluth before the storm got bad.  I went to San Diego over break and missed the whole storm.  San Diego was super nice it was between 75 and 80 degrees every day.  I went with my girl friend and we just kind stayed by the beach the whole time.  The resort was really nice and there was hardly anyone there.  We had the pools to our selves and there wasn’t any noise at all.  I think it was one of my best Spring Breaks ever.  Nice weather and no people to bother me, just the way I like it.
