            Pursuing Happiness is a part of everyone’s life, and ultimately everyone wants to reach the point of being happy.   For some people in the world they will never reach that point. This movie shows how hard work and dedication can lead to success and happiness.  The reason college students should watch this movie is because it will take a lot of hard work, and will be a struggle to get through college.           

                  Being homeless is a threat that is a very real possibility for many college students.  One bad break and I could find myself out on the street.  If it weren’t for my parents I don’t know where I would be.  My parents have told me that I can live with them for as long as I need.  Having that security takes a lot of weight off me.  If I were to lose my job today, I know that my parents would help me out as much as they can.  If I didn’t have them to back me up, and rent was due, I know I would be close to losing my house too.           

                 This movie reminds me of going to school and working at the same time.  Hard work isn’t something that is easy.  It takes a lot of dedication, and a lot of time.  Being able to look to the future for the payoff will be enough to get most through.  Will Smith keeps working day after day putting in hours upon hours.  I find myself as a college student studying hours every day.  After studying, I find myself working 40 hours a week.  Working hard is not fun.  We all have to do it though.Struggling is a huge part of life as a student.  Adding work to that is an even bigger struggle.  In this movie Will Smith is constantly overcoming obstacles in his life. Recently I am finding myself struggling to keep up with homework.  I find myself having to call in to work to finish up school work.  Losing my job would be detrimental to me.  So on some days I have to choose if I want to finish my homework, or go to work.  Most of the time I just want to give up.  However, I know that I have to keep pushing myself.  Everyone struggles through life at some point.  All I have to do is get through a couple rough years, graduate college, and than I can hopefully relax.  I know that having a college education will be a key part in me becoming happy.             

               Some may argue that getting a college education won’t make a person happy.  I am not saying that it will, but succeeding in something as important as college will give a person a sense of pride.  I know many people that are happy and don’t have a college education.  Another argument is that you can be successful without a college education.  Success is never easy.   It takes hard work and dedication.  Struggling is also a key part on the road to success.  Success can be reached without a college education.  It is more common to reach success with a college education, than without one.           

                Will Smith struggles a great deal in this movie.  He gets through the struggling by hard work and dedication.  Hard work and dedication get college students through school.  Stated in the Document of Independence are these words. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” The last four words of that statement are “the pursuit of Happiness.”   As stated by Will Smith in the movie “everyone has the right to pursue happiness, no one can take that from you”.  Going to college is one step in the pursuit of happiness.  It won’t come easy, but with a lot of hard work and dedication it can be achieved.
