Mock Paper Ideas
I am still on the ropes, as it were, but I have a couple of ideas… One idea is “Weres: They DO exist” and another idea is “Are Wizards truly evil?”. I am still thinking on it, but would love some feedback!!

Unfortunetly I have been having trouble with MyCompLab and have not had a chance to see what my peers have written. However, from past experience, I have learned that people LOVE LSC and are very comfortable here. I also found that there are a LOT of really good writers here!!! I am looking forward to read more of my peers’ works.
The cartoon of the girl shopping to help the economy kind of hit home. I work at Walmart and see first hand how shoppers help my fellow employees and myself stay employed and get hours. As sad as it is for me to say… Shoppers really do help the economy! However, as a shopper, it does hurt too!! The economy IS suffering right now. People do not really have the extra money to shop like we used to. The lack of funding hurts us all!! Without shoppers, (as one who works in retail) hours get cut and then we are forced to use our “extra” money to pay bills and rent. Something needs to give. The only question is: What?
A little over a year ago I went to Oaxaca, Mexico. I had about a year and a half of spanish under my belt, but was still not confident in my knowledge of the language.
I spent about a week in Oaxaca, mingling with the locals. I felt so out of place, especially considering my doubts in their language. However, I was able to function and very quickly fell in love with the city and her people.
I hope to go there again sometime… only this time I will try to feel less like a foreigner and more like myself!!
I think that one of my strongest virtues is Order. I like to have everything in its place and well organized. At the same time, however, I think that this is also one of my greatest weaknesses. At work I am a neat and orderly person and get cranky when things are a disorganized mess. At home, my room is an absolute mess!!
For those of you who are unaware… I have been very ill these last few weeks and therefore, did not get much work done on my paper.
I did get to read a couple of papers and review them… They were very interesting papers and I enjoyed seeing their personal points of views!!
As for my paper, I hope to have my first draft done in the next couple of days!!! Wish me luck!!!
This past weekend, I had the privilege to attend the Fine Arts Festival near Brainard. I have to admit I had a lot of fun while I was there. A wide variety of students, from community colleges around the region, attended this wonderful event. It was great to see so many people come together in their love and passion for music.
The weekend started out with the first of 3 “Showcases”. Our own LSC Concert Choir performed 2 songs, yours truly singing alto. All of the schools who performed over the course of the festival were wonderful to listen to!!! Songs varied from religious to folk (like Camptown races) to just funny!!!
For those students interested, there was also a chance to sing (a solo) in front of a judge. I sang an American Folk song called “Go ‘Way From My Window“. I did not know it at the time, but this “chance” was actually a try-out for a vocal recital. (Thankfully I was not picked to sing in the recital!!) Many of the students who were not picked to sing still showed their support by sticking around to hear their fellow students sing. I was really amazed by these talented students. Their voices were amazing and you could tell they really loved to sing.
In between the “Showcases” and recital, all of the students worked on 5 songs that we would later perform for the public. (I cannot remember the names of the songs at the moment, though.) We had a guest conductor who worked with us throughout the entire practice time. He was very funny and informative. We learned a lot!! Most of what we learned, however, was stuff that he “inserted” into his funny tirades. (Perhaps the best way to teach!!)
Overall, I had a great time!! I met a lot of people, was given support from all of my peers, and learned a lot all while having a blast!!! It was wonderful to watch as we grew from strangers into a community united in song!!!
My group has decided to work aspects of the environment and how we have an affect on it.
After giving it much thought, I have decided that I would like to do my paper on the negative affects of deforestation. I have seen, up close, how deforestation can cause problems. With their homes gone, animals are coming closer and closer to the city!! Things need to change. I hope to get a chance to talk with people from the papermill and local lumberjacks to get their views and see what they are doing to replace the trees they have cut down.
First of all… What gives the United States Government the right to refuse gay marriages??? Last time I looked that was a CHURCH thing and not a STATE thing. What ever happened to “Seperation of Church and State”?????
I decided to read “When I Call Her My Husband” because, although I am not a homosexual, I have many friends who are and wanted to see how someone, ready for the commitment of marriage, felt about the government’s refusal to recognize their relationship as ”legal”.
I had the privilage to attend the St. Patrick’s day event held by Student Senate. My friend and I even dressed for the event. I worked a green bob-cut wig, green “Everybody loves Irish girls!” t-shirt, and green and gold bead necklaces. My friend (Julie) and I got our faces painted and I helped make sandwiches for the homeless.
I was actually quite surprised by how many people showed up and helped make sandwiches. As I was leaving for class I watched one of the Senate members carry out boxes and coolers packed full of sandwiches. I would have to say that this was a great success. It was so nice to see so many people come together to help others!!! I can only hope it does not stop there!!! +
