A little about me!

Hi everybody!  My name is Maggie and I just turned 28.  I am a full-time student at LSC and I work a part time job.   I will be transfering to UMD next semester (Yay!)  Right now I am taking Physics, Organic Chemistry, Calculus, and this class.  Grades are my absolute number one priority, so needless to say that most of my time is spent studying.  I plan to major in Biology and minor in Chemistry.  I then plan to embark on the journey of medical school.  I am extremely busy and I find it very challenging to squeeze in time for workouts.   But, as you may imagine, I live for a challenge.  Even though something may seem impossible, I find that most of the time, it is not.  Plus, the feeling of accomplishment at the end is worth more than any amount of money, or any other award for that matter.

I am so excited to be running a marathon, even if it is a half.  A few years ago I was considered obese and lived a sedentary lifestyle, so for me this is very exciting.  I guess it started out about a year and a half ago.  Even thought I had lost wieght, I was still quite overweight and decided I was sick of it.  I have had athsma all of my life and have used that as an excuse to exercise, and especially run.  I started taking group classes at a gym.  Soon, I decided to give myself a goal to be able to run for a half an hour without stopping.  When I reached this goal, I knew it was time to make a new one.  This is when I decided to run Grandma’s.  I look back at how far I have come and am kind of in disbelief.  I remember when I started taking my classes.  I was the girl that was in the back, taking the lightest weights and struggling to get through.  Now I’m the one taking the heaviest weights and owning these workouts!  (Even though sometimes it never seems easier) It feels great!  I feel sometimes too that I am inspirational to other people coming into these classes as well, and that feels great!

Fitness and health are now a huge part of my life.  It helps me with stress, and gives me a sense of confidence and achievment that nothing else has ever given me.  I am really looking forward to learning from all of you during these few short weeks and improving my fitness levels and most importantly; achieving my goal of running Grandma’s!
