            American Pie 2 is a movie that addresses the sexual issues of college students.  The movie tells the story of five college men who are just finishing their freshman year. As a well deserved break they rent a beach house in the hopes of scoring some hot chicks.  During that summer they learn that sex isn’t only about the physical act.

            Jim is the most influential character in this movie.  After a botched attempt at having sex with a hot exchange student Jim finally gets the chance to regain his pride.  After a year back in her home land, Naudia plans a trip to visit Jim for a week at the beach house.  Remembering his “quick draw” the last time he attempted to get lucky with Naudia he seeks the advice of a band geek named Michelle.  Michelle agrees to take Jim under her wing and educates him on the right ways to sexually gratify women.  As the time of Naudia’s visit approaches, Jim finds himself no longer pining away for the beautiful exchange student; however, he sees the beauty inside an awkward band geek and falls in love.  The lesson for college students is clear; the world is masked in all areas with superficial beauty. Things aren’t always as wonderful as they seem. An example of ugly truth could be as simple as tainted meat in a store; on the surface it may look delicious and pink; although, if examined under a microscope you may find yourself holding the infected carcass of a diseased animal. 

            Stiffler is another memorable character in the movie.  As a young immature sex hound he shows little to no respect for women.  He shows how some hormonal college males are out for one thing and will do anything it takes to get it.  In one scene Stiffler is at a party with an intoxicated woman, seeing his opportunity he attempts to go in for the score. Like most intoxicated people she is oblivious to the ulterior motives of Stiffler.  There is a lot to be gained by looking into the ramifications of this scene.  In most schools, college parties can be seen as an opportunity to take advantage of intoxicated women.  Not only does alcohol lower inhibitions, it allows predators the chance to take advantage of a women’s who would under normal circumstances not give them the time of day.  College women should take extra caution while attending parties with alcohol. Not all men are dogs; however, you may never know when you could be entering the dog pound.

            Most critics believe that this movie is too graphic in terms of language and content. I would have to disagree.  The world is an unrated movie; however, as parents of young adults we are not capable of restricting our children from its harsh content.  I would much rather allow my children to watch a graphic movie and learn from its content than to expose them to the dangers of predators and the ugly truths of reality leaving them unprepared to face the real world.

            American Pie 2 is a humorous movie that tells some of the ugly truths about sex. It is time for young adults to learn the things that their parents are afraid to tell them.  Sex is a natural part of life, yet it can also cause physical and emotional pain if experienced with the wrong individual.  This is an exceptional movie for young adults who are ready to learn what college for some people can really be like
