City vs Country
Surely, everyone has had the thought, would I rather live in the city or the country? I have had the opportunity to experience both of these. There are many pros and cons with living in either place, and I would have to say that the country was a little more enjoyable.
One difference would be the space and privacy issues. When I lived in the city, I had limited space. I had a small yard, if you could call it a yard. I also had neighbors very close but not in the same building. Being in the same building could be a problem if one likes to keep to his or herself and don’t want people to know everything that they do. In the country, I didn’t even know or see my neighbors. I also had a very large yard and was be able to do whatever I wanted without worrying about being snooped on.
Another difference is the distance I had to travel to get to a certain destination. Being in the country I had to drive further distances to go to the grocery store, gas stations, and other things you can only find in the city, like movie theatres. My friends also had to drive further to visit. Living in the country made me closer to other fun activities such as fishing, 4-wheeling, and hiking. In the city, I had to travel to the country to enjoy these activities.
I think living in the country is a little more high maintenance. I had a lot more yard to cut and maintain. I would have to shovel my own walk and driveway. Where as in the city, I had a landlord to do this stuff for me. Most people don’t even get the luxury of off-street parking while living in the city. Also, being in the city, had a landlord to fix my leaky pipes, clogged drains, and broken doors.
Animals were another issue with living in the city. I am lucky to be able to have a dog where I live, but when I lived in the country, I didn’t have to worry about pets being able to stay or paying a deposit to have them. Some places won’t even allow animals, making ones options of residency limited. In the country, I was able to have whatever kind of animals I wanted.
After all is said, I think I would prefer to live in the country. Who wouldn’t? You get more privacy and a bigger yard. You can have all the animals you want, as long as you are able to take care of them. You also get to do fun outdoor activities more often. All in all, I think country living is the way to go.
