I would like to interview Mr. Lincoln (say, 3 days before his assassination).  Mr. Lincoln is a man I very much respect, and it would be interesting to know his thoughts on certain issues at the time.  I would like to get quite a bit of information from him regarding his second term, and what future plans he may have had regarding the issue of Southern reconstruction and the fate of African-Americans.

# Questions I would ask:

Recently, you issued the so-called “Emancipation Proclamation.” Is this declaration meant to lead to Africans achieving equality, or just an end to their enslavement?

The Southern states are in very rough shape.  What are your plans for reconstruction?

What do you believe will be the most difficult task in restoring order in the South?

One Response to “Interview with Abraham Lincoln”

  1. Kelli Says:

Lincoln is an excellent choice, and I especially like that you’d ask him these questions just days before his assassination. This would yield the greatest amount of wisdom from him. The answers to your questions about freedom versus equality and reconstruction are ones that could help us even today.
