Chapter 6 in retrospect

February 6th, 2007

After reading chapter 6, I have found 3 of tips I find to be most useful in my upcoming Paper 1.  They are:

1.  unbiased and objective analysis of events

2.  using and “inverse pyramid” type organization in order to put the most important information as a beginning summary and following up with background infomaking sure who is reading

 3.  Using quotations effectively in that they are relavent and are clearly labled as such in the paper.

Most weren’t new to me much, but I found the concept of balancing information in that the report contains more quote or resource so that the reader can be given the opportunity to draw his or her conclusion.  given the facts presented

  1. Kelli Says:

You’ve brought up three key points. Did you finish writing, though? It looks like you kind of trailed out at the end. 20 points.

    Your next blog prompt:

The second paper you’ll be writing this semester is an editorial. This means that you need to not only figure out a topic that interests you and has an argumentative bent, but you also need to get informed on the topic. By next Tuesday, February 27th, write a blog entry that presents two “hot” topics that are going on in our school, in our community, or in the area. Present each topic and then give a 3-4 sentence description of the arguments behind it.

Note: You don’t necessarily have to write your editorial paper on one of these topics. Keep in mind that not only will I be reading these, but your classmates may be reading them as well.
