My Response to “Lee and Me”
I am choosing the essay “Lee and Me” to respond to, because I actually enjoyed reading it. The story was pretty believable to me since I was in middle school just four years ago. A quote that really stuck out to me was, “It’s no wonder that people with power and popularity remain that way. Everyone else is fighting among themselves.” It really summed up the reality of kids these days trying to be the most popular girl or guy in school. I think it is very important to the essay because it shows that Lee was just fighting with himself when he actually thought he was being boosted up on the “food chain.” All he was doing was belittling himself and “Daligirl.” I think the writer’s point was to establish the theory that when bullies pick on other people, all they are doing is fighting with themselves and that they will never become more popular by bullying.
