Jimmie Irwin Steve Dalager Essay 2 Talk the Talk

Do you ever wonder how much communication means in our daily lives? Well in my essay I will be telling you all about different kinds of communication. I will be telling you about the factors and communication skills we learn and use from birth, elementary school, high school, and life after high school. I hope you see my point of view about communication in this essay I will be sharing with you today. When we were infants, our communication was almost all non-verbal. We would cry over being hungry, we would cry if we had a messy diaper, and we would cry when we were tired. We would laugh when we would see something funny, and would laugh as we passed gas! We eventually learned how to talk in minor words. As infants we would say ba-ba for our bottle, ma-ma for our mothers, and da-da for our fathers. This started our verbal communication skills. By the time Elementary School rolled around, our family and friends taught us many words and signs of communication. Being a grade school student meant that you knew, or were learning how read letters, words, and eventually sentances and books. Learning how to write was another part of non-verbal communication that was a huge factor in life. By being able to write meant that us, as students, could make letters to express ourselves in ways other than talking. Students were taught a lot about body language, facial expressions, emotions, gestures, and some were even taught to sign as a language. Of course everyone thought they knew it all in high school, but they forgot a lot about what they learned through out their lives. During the years, students would put up a front to hide their true emotions and feelings. They would put on a mask to hide their true selves. The teenagers would hide from their friends if they had been hurt, since they didnt want to ruin their reputation. The boys hid their emotions from everyone, while the girls pushed their emotions to the biggest they could be (majority were drama queens). When the teenagers developed into adults, they left high school for the bigger world, they learned to let go. Everyone realized that communication was a key factor to life skills. Theyd eventually get with reality and face the facts. They learned to understand the people around them and their selves. Communication with others would no longer be an issue to their every day life basics. All in all, I hope you enjoyed my essay. I told you about the factors and communication skills we learned from birth, elementary school, high school, and life after high school. As you can see, communication is a very important thing we learn, but how we use it factors our future and who we are going to be.
