Introduction
What can a mother say to her daughter who has the potential to be very beautiful, if she only lost thirty or forty pounds? That was a question that my mother has confessed to contemplating, but in a slightly different regard. I was home schooled, which meant that my mother was responsible for grading all of my compositions in writing. This left her with the gut feeling that I was on the cusp of understanding the how’s and why’s of the English language, but left her feeling as though I tried my best and earned an A. Needless to say, my mother did not have the heart to tell me that I just wasn’t doing it right! So I happily continued with my life feeling hopelessly handicapped whenever the prospect of writing came up.
When I decided to come to LSC my transcripts boasted my lack of enlish/grammer schooling, so I was obligated to take a composition class. Terrified, I entered class worrying that I wouldn’t be able to pull off a C…but I guess a little hard work and a teacher who knows how to hit me on the side of the head had tell me to write it again worked. Now I am a well rounded cocky know-it-all, it lieu of my former un-rounded and slightly uneducated cocky self. –Thanks Dalager!
