Final

For my final design I chose texture as one of my elements. I think this art shows a good amount of texture because of the detail. Next I chose symmetry because I created a design that is equal on both parts. And last I did abstract because it is not a definite object. I really enjoyed this class and it taught me a lot about digital design!

Movement

This picture originally had one Adrien Peterson in the middle and he was not blurry at all.  I made a copy of him and copied it to both sides.  Then I added a motion blur filter to him at about 50% on the first one.  Then the one in the middle I added about 10% blur and I left the original in focus.  And it’s all on the original background.

For my final design I decided to revisit the world of radial balance.  I had these circular designs floating around in my head and this is what emerged.

As I stated above the dominate design element is radial balance.  The mandalas are all emerging, or disappearing into, a central location.  Each circular element is also radially balanced on the axis point, accented by the triangles pointing toward the brown dot in the center.

Beyond the radial balance many other design elements were used.  Each mandala is composed of a series of geometric shapes layered upon each other.  The repetition of shapes within each circle creates a pattern, and also, movement within each circle.  This feeling of motion continues in the radial structure of the design and is reinforced by the rotation of each mandala so it appears they are rotating on their axises.  My color scheme is a blue/orange complimentary scheme which is a very active combination, also helping to reinforce the idea of movement.

Final

This is a picture I took a few winters ago in Jay Cooke State Park.  I thought it looked pretty cool.  This is the original.

I took this picture and added some different filters to it.  I changed the contrast and brightness.  I think the winding road has flow to it.  Also, the contrast between the sky on top and the snow on bottom compared to the dark trees and then the medium shade of grey for the road makes it work best as a black and white.  Then I changed the contrast of it to make it more of a brownish red road.

I could not resist to create for my final a surreal composition again. I used two pictures taken last summer, one taken in California of a figure sitting under unusually cut tree, the other of a mountain view here in Nevada. I cut out the figure under the tree and sat her on the top of the mountain, then I manipulated the colors, put the stars and the leaves, played with lights and shadows. I used few of the elements we learned: some radial balance while placing the figure in the center and the whole rest around her, light and event asymmetry through concentrating the light and stars in the upper and left area, there is also some abstraction. I tried to compose a magical, dream like picture and I think I managed to get that feel there.

Nick Seguin – Final

This is a character from a comic I stopped working on years ago.

I had him in my old sketches and for the final I decided to add more to him.

I used textures I’ve made in the past to make most of his skin and I tried my best to change the lighting on him in a few areas.

His head was the funnest part to make. In the original drawing he was just bald. Now I gave him an appearance I think is kinda scary.

Another, sort of random addition is the strange face that is protecting his heart. That’s his original face from a small sprite collection I made in high school. It looks weird there but that’s what I was going for.

I tried redrawing wings for 2 hours and I couldn’t get it down so to avoid frustration I reused the wings from one of my previous assignments.

I’ve find wings to be the most challenging thing to draw for me. I’ll get it down one day though.

i tried to use the clone tool, but i don’t think it was the way you really wanted it to look.  I did everything to try and get the guy standing where the girl was so the guy would be back to back so it would look like a mirror image, but it didn’t exactly work like that.

So, this is the black and white image now, i wasn’t sure if we were to create a different moving still pic. or, use the same one, but i beileve we were to use the same one and to alter the image if necessary.:)  I like it better in color personally:)
