When the Going Gets Tuff
E. 5.2
The movie Miracle is one of the most powerful movies which inspirers people to try hard and never give up. When I watched this movie, I felt that I got more motivation to do well in any task that makes me try harder than ever before. This film also gave me strong pride in myself. I never thought that the soviets where the most dominate team during that time. To me, I thought it was just another game, nothing too big. Once I realized what Herb Brooks and the team had gone through during that time, I saw that when the going gets tuff, never give up, never stop trying and never stop believing. That’s what team U.S.A and Herb Brooks did. The team was nothing but college level players going up against NHL all-stars. No matter how big the wall was, they still climbed it.
One main reason I picked this film is the fact that trying hard and working hard for what its worth is a lot like college. People go to school to get educated and to have a good job to support themselves and a family. College requires hard work and dedication. This is exactly what team U.S.A. had to do in order to beat Russia. It would really pay off if everyone would study before test time. It makes the people that study feel a lot better about themselves. Herb Brooks had the team take a test on basic hockey knowledge and history. One player refused to take the test. He played more frustrated during practice than anyone, and was questioned by Herb constantly for not taking the test. Herb was trying to get his team focused on what is most important, kind of like college.
Second, I was taking a Geography test the other week, I almost gave up on the essay. My main reason was because I couldn‘t find the words to express my thoughts on the question. I decided to move on to the other essay question. The words I chose for the second essay gave me a new answer for the first essay I had trouble with. When people apply themselves to any objective they too can see why trying the hardest is always good news. I know some people that just give up. Whenever I give up, I feel defeated. There for, I am not a happy person, because who likes to be defeated? Anyone? No. No one wants to be defeated. It brings the moral support down, and resulting in further losses. When the soviets crushed team U.S.A in an exhibition match. They didn‘t give up. They were defeated, but never gave up on themselves. Try the hardest and that’s how to get any job done.
Finally, the main reason I picked this film is the fact that Herb never gave up when the going got tuff. So many people told him that team U.S.A never had a chance. I liked Herb for this reason because he never listened to anyone who said that. He did his own thing and played his own game. Even if his game looked a little weak, he knew it was the only strong way to win. Herb focused on skating, and conditioning, not offense or defense. Herb told the team one day during practice, “I don‘t care if we win any games. This team will be the fastest, best fit, conditioned team in the world.“ Herb was fed up during an exhibition game in Norway and kept the skaters on the ice when everyone left the building. Even the Zambonie driver left because he didn‘t want to wait around to resurface the ice. Herb was mad, because the team wasn‘t playing like a team or trying their best in every game. Herb never told this to anyone, he just expects it from all his players. He skated the team until they passed out on the ice. To teach the team a lesson to play as a team and never give up, the captain finally shouted out his name and what team he plays for to end Herbs lesson. This applies to the fact when getting overwhelmed in college, just don‘t call it quits, or give up. Complete satisfaction is what anyone can get after completing any goal people set.
In conclusion, I’ve heard some people say that this movie doesn’t do a good job on explaining how Herb’s life played in this film. Some people don’t know their history. Herb was all about Minnesota hockey. He just wanted his chance to get the gold medal. Herb was cut from the 1960 Olympic team which won the gold medal. That fueled him to do what it takes to get the gold medal. I hope that if anyone watches the film “Miracle“ that they too well get a certain feeling to try harder and never give up when the stress builds on the task they are doing. People these days seem to take on a lot at one time. I think anyone can overcome the goals they set if they are dedicated. Just make everything you attempt worth the while. College can be easy to get by only if trying the hardest and never giving up is in the credentials.
