Introductory Essay
Introductory Essay
During my first year of college, I learned many new ways to become a better writer. I have always tried to improve my writing skills ever since I started writing in grade school. After the first semester of college, I found ways to write better and more efficient. I found it a lot easier to write letters and e-mails to people. College comp has been a big help in many ways to improve my writing skills.
There are many things I learned from college comp. I learned how to catch the hard to find bad sentences and revise them. I also learned a lot about narration, classification, and how to write a better cause and effect paper. I had a lot of difficulties with the second essay. It was very hard to get a good thesis on the topic I was writing about. To get the job done, I used the free writing method for ten minutes. That helped me out a lot. Now every time I write an essay I free write a lot of ideas down to get something going in my mind. After I finish my essay, I always proof read to catch any comma splices, run on sentences, and any “yous” in the paper. My most favorite piece I worked on was essay number four on cause and effect. It helped me be a better writer because I really wanted to get a better score on that essay than all the other ones I wrote.
In any case, without college comp 1 and 2, I’d be lost when it came to write an essay for homework or tests. I think over time I will developed more and more as a writer. I have developed a lot this year in writing thanks to college comp class. Before I graduated high school, my writing skills were very poor in many areas. That tells me a lot about developing as a writer from looking at the past. Now I can look forward by working on my essays more to develop my writing skills.
