I chose this example because it was a fun assignment to do and a fun night to (sorta) remember. The paragraph is supposed to be about observing a situation and explainig it; being “glued” to a spot. I had no problem being glued to a bar stool back then!

One Night at Grampa Al’s
The bar stool at Grampa Al’s is an interesting place to be. I took a seat at the end of the bar one night, ordered a drink and looked at the crowd around me. The band was really rockin’ the place with 80’s hair band heavy metal; the volume must have been at eleven. The green and red lights from the stage show reflected on the sweaty faces of woman gyrating on the spacious dance floor. The smoke filled air obscured people at the other end of the bar in an eerie fog as they mingled and talked. April, the very sexy bartender, mixed drinks and popped open beers with a smile while she coyly turned down date offers and even a marriage proposal,( from me). Pool tables and dart boards over flowed with patrons of various skill and sobriety levels. They competed in sometimes heated matches for bragging rights and small wagers. I took a sip of my drink and recoiled from the strong taste of whiskey. I winked at April for the little extra she added to my beverage, lit a smoke and thought how fun and interesting it was to be at Grampa Al’s.
