I thought the movie was different.  I think that the main character was going through many life changes.  There are many changes in life and this movie shows that everyone has to go through these everyday changes.  We all have a choice in life and what we choose for ourselves is our choice.  I like different movies.  They make you think about our own lives and what it is worth.  We search for different choices in life and this movie shows that there are different choices that we can make and as college students we choose our own pathes in life.  Even though I didn’t get to see the end of the movie I will be renting it to watch the rest of it!

Societal Suicide

I think this reading was very informal and sad.  It is sad to think about families with broken homes.  I have never been in this type of situation because I grew up with both my parents in a well controlled environment.  Many families around the country grow up without a father or mother.  I can’t even think about how it would feel without growing up without my father or mother.  Its sad to think that it is like that.  The author gives good examples and statisics in the reading.

Desecration? Dedication!

I thought this was an interesting reading.  The author brought up issues that are taked about and dealt with in everyday life.  There are some issues that straight people don’t even like to think about or support in any shape or form.  The issue of gay marriage is being brought up more and more today.  Everyone has rights, and as american citizens we have the right to get married.  Everyone is different.  Doesn’t matter what color or race you are, but when it comes to gay marriage people have many different view points.   We are all aloud to state our own opinions but, when it comes down to it how far is to far?  I think people who are in love that are gay or straight is great.  They have found the one thing that can make them happy.  Which is love.

Struggling for Perfection

I thought this reading was very interesting.  It is insightful for all women.  It is very true.  Women today strive for perfection.  Not only do they torture themselves about it, society does it as well.  The media puts up a front of what all women should be like.  We are who we are and no one can take that away from us.  Everyone wants to change something about themselves.  If you don’t want to change something about yourself, good for you!  In the beginning of the reading, it states “Sex sells.”  That’s the honest truth.  Honestly, would anyone subscribe to Playboy if a women was on the cover fully clothed?  I don’t think so.  I hear guys make up the excuse that I get Playboy to read the acticles.  Sure and everybody else does too.  Anyways, the point I am making is that the reading is very true and only if all women looked at it as the author did and I.

Just Walk on By

I thought this story was very interesting.  I think that it is sad that our society has come to this.  I would hate for someone to think almost everytime I was walking late at night down the street that I was going to mug them.  If I was in his situation I would probably ended up flipping out or gone crazy on a person that thought I was going to hurt them in some way.  It puts one’s self esteem down and as well as there character.  Not everybody is bad.  Looks are decieving.  This story has put a different perspective of how I look at people.  I have never thought someone was going to mug me.  Well, we all don’t live in a big criminal town.  You never know.

M&M’s

I found The Truth about M&M’s to be amusing.  I never thought to look at students this way.  I found myself being one of each types of M&M’s.  Right now, I think I would see myself as a Plain M&M.  I go to class and do the work.  I love to write.  I see myself being a Peanut because I do love to dig deeper and find a way to write better.  At times, I find myself BSing my way through papers or my writing.  I just want to get it done.  I know I can BS my way through papers and settle with a “B”.  There are other times that I want to dig deeper and get that “A” work.  I feel good when I “A” because I know that I accomplished something through me not my BS side of writing papers.  The truth about M&M’s was a different way to describe the types of students you see in class.  I found that it was cute.

Vintage Races

Since we have to write about anything.   This weekend I am super excited for Saturday.  Saturday is the vintage snowmoblie races on fish lake.  The vintage races are old snowmoblies racing against eachother.  Many people come from all around for this event.  It is an all day event.  It starts at noon and goes on til its over.  Basically, when its the races are over its a big party event for everyone.  I’m excited because I used to work up in the area and I am going to know mostly everyone!  My friends and I are going to be bouncing around from place to place visiting with everyone and having a blast!  Can’t wait!!!

“Forced Off”

The assignment was to write about anything.  So, I am going to do so.  I am a waitress.  At my job I am schduled five days a week.  I am supposed to support myself off my tips that I earn.  These past few months I have been “forced” off friday nights.  Forced off means that there is a sign up sheet on the bullitin board and if no one signs up for it the lower in sonority gets to be forced off that night.  I am lower in sonority at my job.  There have been waitresses at my job that have been there up to 30 years.  So, you can only imagine how low I am in sonority.  To work weekends at any resturant is considered to be good money making weekends.  My point is that I am going to be forced off this friday.  Which puts me in a rutt.  I requested Saturday off.  So, I am not working at all this weekend.  Which really sucks, I depend on my tips.  Its nice to have a weekend off but, the fact is that I need money like everyone else.  I find it hard at times.  I want to go and find another job but there really is no point.  If I did find another job that would be the time when I actually would get to work weekends.  Sometimes I wish I could just win the lottery!  Than I wouldn’t have to deal with this problem at work.

The Ugly Truth about Beauty is how our society is labled today.  There are so many women that obsess about how they look.  From how to do her hair to does my purse match my outfit?  Its true.  I’ll admit it right now, my friends and I have all done it.  Society and the media have affected men and women’s self esteem.  Look at all the magazines they tell us how to….and it never ends there it goes on and on.  I think people in general need to take a look at themselves and realize we are who we are.  We don’t have to change for others.  If we want to change how we look that is up to ourselves not the media telling us what we can do better to better ourselves.  The reading is a big eye opener.  I think it sums it all up in a nut shell.
