Great Firewall of China

Great Firewall image

Turns out that the Chinese won’t be reading our blogs here at LSC. You can go to the Great Firewall of China website to see if any URL is blocked in China. One thing I found on my trips over there is that things are not always bloacked in every location. However, it appears the the LSC blog site is blocked. Darn, and I was counting on some of those 1.3 billion people to drive up my page view numbers in the future.

  1. China Law Blog Says:

If your blog is LiveJournal, Wordpress, or Blogspot, it is probably blocked. If it is Typepad, it probably is not. Host is more important than content.

Well yes, and no. Blogspot was previously blocked, such as when I was there in May 2006, b ut not when I returned in Oct. 2006, and not today (tomorrow may be different).

True about host not content being the factor to consider, but although we are using Wordpress software, we are hosting the MU ourselves, so from just the URL there is no way they would know about the software. Apparently, because our URL has the word “blog” in it, they are blocking it as a precaution.
