  • The most important aspect of chapter 6 I found that will relate to the first paper is the ANATOMY OF A NEWS STORY section.  This section shows the correct way of setting up the entire paper– how to frame a news story.  Not only does the author tell you how the frame or setting up of a news story should be written but why.  I think it’s important to understand the reasoning behind why something is the way it is because if you don’t acknowledge this you’ll not acknowledge the true importance of the matter.
  • The second important aspect of chapter 6 would have to be the USING QUOTATIONS section.  This section I think will benefit the entire class because we are suppose to interview (at least 2) people about the event we’re writing the paper on.  This section provides us with the appropriate way to quote what those people we have interviewed have said.  This is also beneficial for any paper written or when quoting all resources used in a writing (meaning not just those physically interview).
  • The third section I find useful would be the section on objectivity of your paper.  This is crucial because the purpose of the paper is to practice objective observation for future papers and research.  This section applies to me personally due to the fact I am not very good at excluding myself from my writings.  This section points out using personal biases in a news story tells your opinion, but not actually what happened.  The author also points out that when news reporters do add their own biases they are less credible and trustworthy resources.  People want to hear the facts, not the writer’s opinion(s).
