Chap.18/Act.3

The limits I set for my behavior are knowing when to say “no” to people in any given situation and to know where to draw the line when a situation goes too far or get to be inappropriate. I call my boundaries the “boundary bubble.” I don’t let just anyone into it; I don’t let people I have just met or don’t know in my personal space. I only let my friends, family, and people I trust into my bubble; as a result, I feel that I have healthy boundaries. I don’t let people walk over me and I don’t let people talk me into doing something I’m not comfortable doing. I think that these boundaries gradually develop over time; furthermore, I think your life experiences have a big part in what your own personal boundaries are and what they turn out to be. I really don’t need to change my personal limits and boundaries; I feel comfortable and confident right where there are.

Chap.17/Act.3

I interviewed my mother, Lynn, and she changed her self-image by starting to run regularly every week. She runs 3 to 4 times a week and runs 6 or more miles each time. She also runs 2-3 marathons a year, including Grandmas Marathon.

1.What were the factors that contributed to your success?

I work at the Air National Guard and every year we have a fitness test, which we need to pass. This test includes running a mile and a half, sit-ups, push-ups and, having your wiast measured. At first, i just wanted to pass, but then i got greedy and now I want to get 100% every year. As a side note, I’ve gotten 100% fpr the past three years!

2. What were your obstacles?

My first and major obstacle was not wanting to get up in the morning; I just wanted to stay warm in bed. Another obstacle is the weather: snow, rain, and bad weather makes it more difficult to be able to run. My last obstacle is the fact that I am a women running alone in the early hours of the day. You never know who is out there, so you need to watch out for yourself.

3. What advice do you have to offer?

You need to be persistant and stick to watch you want to do and don’t give up on yourself. You can also set little attentative goals for yourself to help you achieve what you want and to not overwelm yourself. In the end you will be very happy with your accomplishments.

4. What did you learn that you did not know before you conducted the interview?

I learned that you need to have great determination to achieve your goals in life. You also need to have self discipline; without that you will be more prone to making excuses and putting it off. I think that setting little goals for yourself is a great way to get what you want  out of life.

Internal and External Distractions

I found out while filling out the internal and external chatrs that I have somethings I would like to change and work on. An example of an external solution would be to help with concentrating on studying I would use this technique: reading with a pen in my hand. I would also create a study area and it would only be used for homework.

For an internal distraction I need to be able to get to bed early so I’m able to get up in the morning and be alert for class. To fix this I should set a bed time and get all of my homework, chores, etc. done before it gets too late and is past my set bed time.

Midterm Exam Response

I feel that I have learned very valuable things in FYE:1000. For instance, new ways to handle stress in new situations and environments; dancing/exercising, relaxing and walking around to clear my mind seems to help me out the most. This holds many values, like staying fit and being able to stay in a stress free environment; which will benfit me emmensely.

Another strong benefit from this class is the idea to create short and long term goals. It really gets you motivated to pursue what you want to succeed in. I’ve been using this technique a lot this semester; I use it for work, school and every day happenings and it has provided many benefits. This technique will absoluely be a positive change in my life to help keep me organized and to keep growing as a person.

Learning how to prepare for a career is my last example of something valuable I’ve learned so far. Being taught to create a great resume is a big part of starting your career; you need to have a good first impression for potential employers. By following the guidlines in the book it will help me practice and get better for when i need to complete one for a potential job. Filling out a good job application is another step in getting a job/career, so learning how to fill one out neatly and fully is great advice to carry. Also, learning the ways to explore your job options, is to know where to find your resources; like the internet or television news programs. This would help me find what I am/could be interested in and help me move foreward. All of these techniques will be of value to me from the present to the future.

Schedule Response

Nothing in particular really surprises me about my schedule; it’s pretty much what I expect it to be. I feel I have enough time for all of my commitments; school, homework, work, and having free time to myself. I’ve balanced everything pretty well. Of course, occasionally I can have an overload of things happening, but that comes with the territory. I’d have to say; if I had to choose one thing to improve; it would be to dedicate more time to math. Math is my toughest subject for me and I feel I should dedicate more time that normal so I can understand it better. I’ll set a specific time frame for math when possible.

Chap. 14/Act. 4

Dear Potential Reader,

I’m writing on behalf of my interest in fashion design. I Love the world of fashion and everything that has to do with it; it’s very inspiring to me. That is why I wanted to become a designer for American Eagle. Thinking up new great ideas for clothing and accesories everyday is very fufilling and exhilerating. I get inspired through everyday experiences; going for a walk, looking at pictures, and just folowing my own sense of style. I grab a pen and paper and start to release my ideas and pour them onto my piece of paper. My other co-workers and I have meetings to share our brilliant new ideas and to deside what ideas we should keep and move on with and what we need to dispose of and potentially work on. Making the clothes is harder than the design process; some things are made by hand and others are made by a machine. Either way it’s a process that needs to lead to absolute perfection. At the end of the day I’m very pleased with my accomplishments that I have done while working at American Eagle Outfitters.
