that article and the website helped me better understand how to look at this research paper we have to do. It makes sense to start with some comman agreeable ground in these papers. If you start out offending people right away they will never listen to your side and even not consider your side. you want to convince people and allure them your way, not push them away. i think also that you must listen to the other side of the paper or disagreement then you can fully disagree with it with more understanding. we have to come at this paper with more then one point of view and with more then one solution to the problem. we may find more then one solution in the othersides agruments, so we should take the time and knowledge them. when writing our own papers have some one on the other side read the paper if you have the time to do so and listen to see what they have to say to it. see if they come up with anything you can add to the paper to make it better, and less one sided. they can offer maybe more common ground, another solution to the problem that you may not have seen, or even another perspective. this article and website helped me understand how to write a good agrument paper, although i know it will be tuff to keep it to two sides instead of my own side.

who i woul d want to interview would be the first person that became diabetic. i would want to interview this person becuase i think it would be neat to see the differances in time and medicine with diabetes. see how it affected them, how they felt about it, what ups and downs they had to deal with, what challenges they had to face, what was the toughtest part about diabetes, how old or yong they were when they got the disease. one question i would like to ask would be do you regrate any part of getting such a horrible disease? another question i would like to ask would be what was the most challenging part of diabetes when you had it? and lastly i would want to ask them how they found out they had diabetes? i think to see the differences between then and now would give others with diabetes a much better appreciation on the medicine, and the advancements they have made to make life more enjoyable for people with diabetes.

i read a news article in The Duluth News Tribune on Feburary 23, 2006 on teens who where throwing water on the elderly in Cloquet at the Community Memorial Hospital. The teens had done this three times in June and December 2006, and once in Janurary. The teens where in groups of two or three. The teens who were involed are looking to go to trail on tuesday Feburary 27, 2007 with charges being aiding and abetting. The lawyer for the elderly is looking to try them as adults, but they maybe tired as juveniles. one resident side that this could have happened from non-proper parenting. others thought that it was just some teens trying to have some fun. The director of the Hospital said that can’t wait around for the police to do thier jobs to find the teens; that they need to take action now. The director is hoping that the teens should get community service, but not at that Facility they vilolated. The director is hoping that state laws put in some law for security break-ins like this one to be put in state laws for nursing homes. The other news article i read was on titution costs for Minnesota students and Wiscon students. The lawmakers are saying it’s not fair that wiscon students who attend Minnesota colleges pay less then Minnesota students who attend the same college. The Minnesota lawmakers want them all to pay the same rate. while Wiscon lawmakers are thinking that the Minnesota lawmakers are trying to make Wiscon students pay a higher tution rate. They are both saying it’s not fair on either end of the agreements as it stands now. They Both want some fair and equal for the college students, but the issue is what is fair and can both lawmakers come up with an agreement.

In the beging of Chapter 6 were it says Newsworthiness i think this section will help us think about the local event we go to, and what we should be asking in our minds when we do go to these local events. That section got me thinking about what’s main focus of the event. What’s the story behind the story type of thing. I believe when going to the events everyone should at least answer the who what where when and why questions. I think blance is another key to this section and to our papers. when we start to write about our local event we need to keep in mind not to put personal opinions in them; plus make sure we cover all sides of the story. I know i am going to have a very hard time trying not to but my personal opinion in the paper i write. Also when we go to our event we should use all the senses we can to help our readers get a better understanding of the context of the story. For example, use discribing words or telling details to get your readers more interested. Another key component i think is good thing to keep in mind when writing the paper, or gathering your information would be get the full title of people, and make sure you spelt the interviewers names correctly. The section in chapter 6 that says anatomy of a news story is very helpful to anyone who has not writen a news story. It goes into how the order of the article should appear, the news lead first, then the most important details, then least important details, and then ending with a quotation not a conculsion.
