My Portfolio, English comp 1, Section 10, 4/27/07
This year I have learned so much. I have learned how to enjoy reading. I never used to like to read until this year for the independent reading project. I have also learned how to be a better writer. I’ve always liked to write, but I never know what to write about.
I have written many essays this year for school. I’ve picked a couple of my favorite ones to share. The first one is called “A Time I Felt Pressured.” I like this one because I can remember that day like it was yesterday. You’ll have to read the essay to understand. I aslo picked my essay “Then and Now.” I like this one because I got to work with my dad on it. He let me interview him about the “old days.” The other essay I picked is called “Effects of not drinking.” I like this one because this is a true story that I feel very attached to. I have strong feelings about drinking. I also think this is my best essay. I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do.
There was one essay that I absolutly did not like at all. My classification essay. I think I could have done a way better job. I found it easiest to write a rough draft first. Then read over it a couple of times and write in new words that might sound better then the first word. That’s how I try to write all of my essays. I think that’s one way I developed as a writer. I have become better at picking out the words to use. I have become better at just writing the essay.I’ll have to try and remember these things so I can stay a better writer. The most important thing for me to remember as I go to school, is that learning can be fun, if you want it to be.
