A Time I Felt Pressured

Everybody goes shopping. Whether it is for clothes, a new car, compact disks, or even just snacks at a gas station. The sales person will most likely try to pressure you into buying something. It happens everyday, so here’s my story.

I believe it was around the time when I got my tax returns back. I don’t quite remember what year it was. Anyways my dad made me an appointment at Jiffy Lube’s in
Duluth to get my oil changed. I didn’t really like that, because I had friends in town that would do it for free, but dad didn’t trust them working on my car. Well, I guess I didn’t really care too much on who changed my oil. In fact, I was kind of happy to go to
Duluth for it, because then I could go shopping.

When I got to Jiffy Lube’s, the mechanics pulled my car into the garage and got to work on it right away. I could hear lots of noise coming from the garage. I sat down in the waiting room and ate candy from the quarter machines. I got very bored with myself right away. I just wanted to get out of there and go shopping. It seemed like forever, but it was only about twenty, to twenty-five minutes later when one of the mechanics came out to talk to me.

He asked me to come into the garage to look at other things that may be a problem. When I got in there he started naming off a list of problems that he thought needed to be fixed. The radiator needs to be flushed, the air filter needs to be changed, ect….

Soon enough he had all of my money, but I didn’t let them take it. I got so mad, because then I wouldn’t have any money left for shopping. So I said “No, no, no! All I came here for was an oil change, nothing else! Just charge me for the oil change, that’s it!”

In the end I realized that I could say no to the sales person, and I didn’t have to buy all that extra stuff that I really didn’t need.
