I don’t even know where to start. There is not one quote that caught my eye. This whole story caught my eye.
I am floored that they are starting as early as basiclly one year olds with the teletubbies. The girl who wants to gow up to be “a sexy shirt girl” and she is only THREE years old. What in the world is this world coming to having children that young of an age even knowing what a sexy shirt girl is. SHAME on her parents.

“It’s working because tweens have growing purchasing power and influence with their parents.”

I choose this quote because it says alot of why this problem is even accurring today. Parents are letting their child run the way. It should not be that way and the parent should have the ,excuse my language, balls to tell their child NO, they are too young and they are not going to be involved in that type of behavior, or have that kind of apparel or what ever it is they want. The point of the story I think is the writter wants parent to stand up and put a stop to this type of behavior. Quit buyng these types of products. Stop letting your child play all these violent games for hours on end. Stop letting your child watch MTV at four years of age.

The very first sentence of the essay I belive is the thesis.

The writter supports the essay with overwhelming support. Taking about the 3 yr old gilr who wnats to be a a sexy shirt girl. All the children who know of Mexico because of MTV and the partying there, the four yr olds who get toys with PG-113 movies, the underwear with Abercombir and fitch …really thongs for a 7-14 yr olds. WOW..There is just so much support.

“If this war is truly worth fighting, than the burdens of doing so should fall on all Americans.”

I choose this quote because I Think that this writter has gone to extremes and this quote explains it all. However; at the same time I also think this quote is relivent is a way.

I also think that this is a great thesis for what the writter is talking about and how he belives that this is what the war should be about. How everyone should help fight the war and be apart of doing so.

His whole essay talks about how there should be a draft and other people or Americans should help fight in the war.

“it was in the echos of that terrified womens footfalls that I first began to know the unweildy inheritance I’d come into-the ability to ulter space in ugly ways.”

I choose this quote because it says and explains so much. The sad truth of what this man delt with on a daily basis having no choice, no ablity to change the actions taking place and the tragity of his feelings being violated all because the color of his skin.

I think that the thesis is: I was to become thoroughly familiar with the language of fear.

The next few sentences say it all, people lacking their doors as he passed by, people crossing the street as he approached them on the sidewalk. Just the fact of being suspected when seen by a women.

The point of this story I believe is that judging people and the way people are treated can really have an impact of how a person contiues through life, expecally if they have to tip toe around trying to spare that of the fearful.

“Just like Mars Candies keeps coming up with new varieties of M&M’s, there are countless varieties of students (even occasional Gummy Worms).” I like this quote because it gives so much information about each person and the way they are seen through the writters eyes.

“Unlike Plains, Peanuts have something buried within them. It’s a peanut, but in many respects, it’s a heart.” I choose this quote because of the meaning to the peanut. I really like the way the writter has used the m & m and with the way the stand. It makes sence to me.

I think that the thesis of this writting is from the first quote, stating that all students are different and everyone is in some sort of phase in there life but are able to change into a better student with effort, heart and wanting.

“A full life, however, goes beyond merely controlling one’s destiny; it goes to positively affecting the lives of others.” I think this is the thesis. He supports it by explaining the different ways a person can acheive that goal. This was very interesting to me and I though it was good to read, informational. The daughter is doing very well so that makes it even better.

“Marriage is not a private institution designed solely for the individual gratification of its participants.” I choose this statement because if it is not for that very reason than what is marriage ruly about? To me marriage is about that exact staement. I love my soon to be husband and it is for my own gratisfaction that we are getting married, to share with one another and it is pur private institution. Who’s elses business is it. Notice how no one cares about him and I getting married, or that some people are popping out children left and right, using drugs, not caring for then, abusing them, but it is a huge deal if your gay, I say get over it. I know some couples who are gay and they are great. Children will not be reared worse in a gay family , than a child in a women and man family. It all depends on how they are raised and the way they are raised. What events happen to them in their life. Not whether their parents are gay or not.

The point of this story was that the author was against gay marriages and that he or she thought it was the cause of troubled children, marriages being destroyed and might i just add how is it the people who are gay, how is it their fault for someone else’s marriage to fall apart.

Every issue of Playboy, every lewd poster, and even Victoria Secret catalog transform real women into ornaments, valued exculsivly for their outer appearance. I think that this quote says it all, not only in these catalogs but its true to many of the everyday life, advertisments, workforce, dresscodes, TV, radio, events. I think that there are many problems because of this and its sickning. The show supermodel or what ever its called, some of them girls look gross, how skinny they are and how they talk about their hair falling out and the judges still call them fat or tell them they need to lose weight……how is that legally right. Young girls alll over worry about what they look like, I never thought of that growing up, it wasn’t a concern like it is now. I think it is important for people to realize that looking like that is unhealth and getting health, normal weight models back to the show and girls who are under wieght should not be able to perform. The US needs to take a stand and stop this rediculisness. The point is to point out the problems that not only stem from the disorders but once they get out of hand its hard to save or help that person find their way back out and healthy again. It also leads to many other problems. It is about sociaty and advertisers and businesses need to take another look and prevent this and these women and or men from this hugh health issue.
