Cause and effect essay revision

Posted by addoe in Uncategorized

I.                    Introduction- What caused my essay to be what it is about and my thesis

II.                 Paragraph 1- What I started to do about what I saw

III.                Paragraph 2- It wasn’t easy, but I stuck to it for a while.

IV.              Paragraph 3- This robot just wasn’t going to work, so I gave up.

V.                 Conclusion- Letting the audience know what caused me to want to build this robot and also what I learned during this experience.

There are always things I either think of or see somewhere else that really interest me to the point where I want to do the same. I will see people do things on television that make me think for awhile. This happens all the time and usually I dream about it and just forget it. Then one day I saw something I actually did something about, while watching one of the weirdest T.V shows I have ever witnessed.

This show featured people building little remote control robots that fought each other in a fenced in arena. They were built to last longer than the other robot and each attempted to destroy the other without mercy. I had never seen this before, but it interested me. I thought for awhile about trying to build a robot just to see if I could. I didn’t really care to put it up against other robots; I just wanted to build one.

After deciding to do it, I began by figuring out what parts I needed to buy or whether I already had them. Unfortunately, I didn’t have most of them. I’m not too sure how much money I spent, but it was enough to build my own robot. At first it seemed pretty easy as I built the beginning parts of my robot. It didn’t seem like much could go wrong. I had no clue what it was going to look like, but I was determined to make it work like I saw from the robots on the television show.

The entire body of the robot, which looked like a box with a couple random entanglements or weapons attached, was pretty much done when I started putting together all the electrical stuff to allow it to move by command of remote control. That is when things started going wrong. It was like parts of it worked and other parts didn’t. It made me happy when it moved, but it was no where near ready for a match against another robot. I finally decided I had no idea what I was doing and this robot would never work by remote control. Sometimes you just have to give up and that’s what I did.

Turning my television on to this channel and watching this odd Battlebots show inspired me to do something constructive with my time. It was the middle of the summer and I had nothing better to do. I learned that if you are interested and have a desire, you should go for it. I also learned there are times where it gets to the point when you just have to give up, even though that might be very hard to do. I’m not saying I should give up on everything, but that needed to stop.
